Do you want to make a difference?
Are you passionate about discovering new ways to improve and change someone’s life for the better? This just might be the job for you…
Being able to access education and day care settings could not be more important to the children and adults in our area who have complex needs. Our service is passionate about helping vulnerable adults access stimulating social environments and build on their personal networks. We help many young learners with complex needs travel to school, helping them to access the same opportunities and improve their life chances. If you share our passion, then this role may be the perfect opportunity for you.
This is a rewarding post. You will contribute to the operational delivery of our essential transport service by managing roles within our office based and operational teams across all areas of the service. Our passengers and their families depend on our service, therefore thriving on challenges and being able to respond at short notice is a must.
Working closely with our team, external contractors, guardians and schools (and of course our passengers!), you will have excellent communication skills and be able to build great relationships. This is a really rewarding role and you absolutely don’t need to be experienced working in the same field however, having an understanding of adults and children who have a special educational need or disability or logistical planning and service delivery would be advantageous. Perhaps you have lived experience, and this could be a new vocational opportunity?
What you will be doing:
Making sure our passengers get to where they need to be by managing the team to deliver a daily transport provision.
Lead the team, providing development and training opportunities.
Collaborate with customers, contractors, guardians and schools to manage new referrals and any changes to transport arrangements in line with any policy or other statutory guidance.
Manage the Independent Travel Training Programme and promote independent travel to education settings.
Making sure our passengers are safe by carrying out risk assessments.
Support with the budget management across the service and monitoring of contracted taxi and bus transport.
Measuring success and providing operational performance information.
What you must have:
Excellent coordination and organisational skills and ability to work in a high volume environment.
Passion to achieve positive results for the people you engage with.
A collaborative approach to working with excellent interpersonal skills.
Creativity to help develop and maintain the service provided.
Integrity in your approach, being respectful and doing things in the right way.
Flexibility in your approach to meet customer engagement.
We can offer you family-friendly policies, generous annual leave, employee discounts and a great pension scheme.
It is important that we are the right fit and share the same values, which is why we would love a chat with you to talk through the role and answer any questions. The nature of the job requires candidates to have an enhanced DBS check. Get in touch with me today, Ged Faint, Integrated Transport Unit Manager on 01642 353439.
The above post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
