We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual with excellent supervisory skills who can lead the operational crematorium and cemetery team.
You will be directly involved in all aspects of service delivery and in carrying out burials and cremations to ICCM Standards Working within our Crematorium and across all of Cemetery grounds in Middlesbrough responsibilities will also include cremation/chapel duties, grave digging, use of horticultural machinery and equipment, exhumations and grave and cemetery maintenance etc.
You must have excellent leadership and communication skills, be confident, diplomatic and calm and sensitive to the situations you will be involved with. Being professional at all times you will be engaging with bereaved families, Funeral directors, members of faith groups, the public and community we serve.
You will be responsible for ensuring the operational service is delivered to the highest standard at all times meeting all professional standards, including Health and Safety, quality assurance and performance.
Your experience of customer excellence, being team oriented will link with professional colleagues to ensure that the Council’s Customer Charter, Corporate Values and other Corporate Standards are achieved.
As the supervisor, you will also provide support and assistance within the Bereavement team in dealing with the maintenance of the cemeteries, and burial and cremation administration
You must be a proficient IT user - word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email,
The successful candidate will:
Have the ability and confidence to liaise and sensitively communicate with members of the public, bereaved families, funeral directors.
Enjoy working in the outdoors and in all weather conditions and be able to meet the physical demands of the post.
Have experience in a bereavement setting/service and handling sensitive and difficult situations.
Work to the highest standards, independently and as part of a team.
Have a flexible approach to working times including working on a weekend.
A driving licence is essential and you will be expected to undertake training in all aspects of the service.
Supervise a team, delegate work effectively.
Work flexibly including standby and some weekend work.
