A great opportunity is available for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, conscientious and sensitive person to join our Crematorium and Cemetery team.
You will be part of a professional team and directly involved with carrying out cremations and burials, and all aspects of funeral and cemetery services.
Working within our Crematorium and across all of Cemetery grounds in Middlesbrough responsibilities will include cremation/chapel duties, grave digging, use of horticultural machinery and equipment, exhumations, memorial safety surveys and grave and cemetery maintenance etc.
You will also provide support and assistance within the Bereavement team in dealing with the maintenance of the cemeteries, and burial and cremation administration.
Your work must be of the highest standard at all times meeting all professional standards, including Health and Safety, quality assurance and performance.
You must carry out all duties in accordance with the Code of practice of the Federation of the British Cremation and Burial Authorities and the Councils rules of management.
Your experience of customer excellence, and being team oriented will link to professional standards and ensure that the Council’s Customer Charter, Corporate Values and other Corporate Standards are achieved.
The successful candidate will:
Have the ability and confidence to liaise and sensitively communicate with members of the public, bereaved families, funeral directors.
Enjoy working in the outdoors and in all weather conditions and be able to meet the physical demands of the post.
Have experience in a bereavement setting/service and handling sensitive and difficult situations.
Work to the highest standards, independently and as part of a team.
Have a flexible approach to working times including working on a weekend.
A driving licence is essential and you will be expected to undertake training in all aspects of the service.
Work flexibly including standby and some weekend work.
