Middlesbrough Council are seeking to appoint a Senior Project Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nine bed supported accommodation service for 16-18 year old's. The successful candidate will have a background working with vulnerable people in a housing or support related environment. Experience of working with young people in a Psychologically Informed way and delivering guidance and advice around Education, Employment and Training.
You will also have experience of completing support plans and risk assessments, safeguarding and working in partnership with other agencies to meet the needs of the individual.
You will be committed to providing a high quality of care and support, which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, behavioral, health, social and cultural needs of the young people. This will include working with young people who are at risk, have challenging behaviour, emotional problems, mental health disorders and other needs.
This post will also require the post holder to manage staff and take accountability for the running of the service in the absence of the project manager.
Applicants must:
Have NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification or a qualification that the management deems equivalent or a willingness to work towards.
Experience of working with children and young people
An understanding of child development and challenging behaviour
Experience of managing challenging situations
A positive attitude and restorative approach when working with children and young people
Experience of creating support/care plans and risk assessments
Experience of supervising or managing staff
You will also be required to work unsocial hours, including weekends, bank holidays and nights.
A Full UK Driving License is required.
