Are you a looking for a totally new and unique opportunity?
Middlesbrough Council with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and Teesside University has secured over £5 million funding from the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC). We need a new team of enthusiastic professionals to support this.
Working with the rest of the HDRC team, the Making Research Happen Managers will deliver high quality management support to the Head of Knowledge and Innovation to enable the development of the HDRC, leading to research infrastructure and activity becoming embedded in the foundations and culture in Middlesbrough Council and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
There are three Making Research Happen Managers in the HDRC South Tees team one employed by Teesside University and two employed by Middlesbrough Council. The two Making Research Happen Managers employed by Middlesbrough Council (which are the subject of this recruitment opportunity) will operate as part of a whole team but will have specific responsibilities:
Making Research Happen Manager one: this post will work as part of the full HDRC team to explore and establish organisational-wide policies and procedures relating to research in both Local Authorities. By the nature of the role, the postholder will require strong technical knowledge and expertise around research processes, governance, and other issues (along with the other skills described in the job description and person specification).
Making Research Happen Manager two: as part of the full HDRC team, this post will manage three Making Research Happen Officers to build collaborations between each of the target Directorates in both Local Authorities (namely Children’s and Families, Adult Social Care and Regeneration/Economic Growth), academics and wider stakeholders. By the nature of the role, this post will require leadership and partnership building skills, including successful networking and negotiation (along with the other skills described in the job description and person specification).
Given the novelty and uniqueness of the roles, we are excited to welcome applicants from a diverse field and backgrounds – the strength of the HDRC team will come from a varied blend of skills and experiences.
The South Tees HDRC is one of 12 that the NIHR has funded in 2022 and 2023 with more coming online in future years, requiring the team collaborate locally and nationally.
These posts will commence on Monday 2nd October 2023 and are fixed term for an initial period of five years.
