We are looking to recruit two experienced Senior Transport Officers within our Integrated Transport Unit.
This an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate who can take a lead role in maintaining and assist in developing our transports services.
You should have a proven track record in a senior management role with experience of managing a large workforce. The roles involve supervising teams that provide Home to School and Adult Social Care Transport and Travel Assistance for our town’s vulnerable children and adults.
You will have a proven track record of contract and fleet management in transport logistics (ideally within educational transport) and procurement of external suppliers. Having experience of dealing with adults and children who have a SEND or EHCP needs would be desirable.
You will have responsibilities for management of a large workforce, ensuring the service operates effectively in respect of budgets, health and safety and statutory compliance and be able to provide statistical analysis and management reporting as required by the service.
You will be challenged and rewarded in supporting and dealing with families needing travel assistance, within educational and adult care settings, suppliers and other agency professionals. As the supervising officer it will be the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that the Council’s Customer Charter, Corporate Values and other Corporate Standards are achieved.
You will have excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be confident, diplomatic and calm in sensitive situations (including discussing disabilities or special needs with parents/carers) and resilient when dealing with complex logistical issues or complaints.
You must be confident, able to operate flexibly at all levels and able to deliver to achieve performance targets in a busy section of the Council. Being organised and methodical will enable you to work to tight statutory and/or corporate deadlines without compromising on quality. You will have experience of delivering high standards of customer service within a pressurised environment and be a strong team leader with an adaptable and flexible approach.
There will be a variable and flexible working pattern which will meet the needs of the service, this will include early mornings and early evening working on a rota basis.
You must be a proficient IT user - word processing, spreadsheets, databases and email, with good problem solving and analytical skills to produce statistical reports.
