Applicants must:
City and Guilds qualifications in a relevant property maintenance discipline, or a qualification that the registered manager deems equivalent
Be enthusiastic and motivated to support young people and families on the edge of care within the community and residential setting
Good all-round understanding of property maintenance issues, and the appropriate skills and knowledge to react appropriately to emergencies that may happen within service.
Flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of users of the service
They may also need to be able to work unsocial hours I.e.: early mornings, weekend’s sleep-ins, night shift as well as school holidays, evenings and Bank holidays. Additional allowances will be paid for sleeping in and Sunday working.
Background
The DfE have invested over £84 million over five years to support up to twenty Local Authorities to improve their work with families and safely reduce the number of children entering care. Middlesbrough is one of the local authorities who will be benefitting, by working with North Yorkshire to implement its No Wrong Door Model, under the name Futures for Families.
The Futures for Families team will provide a rapid response to children and families in crisis, enabling them to address and overcome the difficulties that have led to the family being at risk of breakdown, and prevent further escalation and referral to care proceedings.
